About

Hi, I’m Thomas Harvest — and I believe healthy food should be the best food on your table.

There’s a moment I’ll never forget. I was 26, sitting across from a patient in my first year as a nutritionist, watching her face fall as I handed her a list of “allowed foods.” She looked up at me and said, “So eating healthy means giving up everything I love?”

That question changed everything about how I approach food — and it’s the reason Simply Nourished Life exists.

WHO I AM

I’m Thomas Harvest, an American nutritionist based in Austin, Texas, with over eight years of professional experience helping individuals build sustainable, joyful relationships with food. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics from the University of Texas and have worked in both clinical settings and private nutrition coaching.

But before the credentials, I was just a kid who grew up watching his grandmother turn the simplest ingredients into the most memorable meals. That early love for cooking never left me — it just grew up alongside my education and became something bigger.

Today, I spend my mornings in the kitchen testing recipes, my afternoons working with clients, and whatever time is left writing here on Simply Nourished Life — sharing every tested, approved, genuinely delicious recipe with you.

WHAT SIMPLY NOURISHED LIFE IS

Simply Nourished Life is a healthy recipe blog built on one non-negotiable belief: nutritious food and delicious food are not opposites.

Every recipe I publish here has been made in my own kitchen — tested, adjusted, and tasted more than once — before it earns its place on this site. I write each article myself, drawing on both my nutrition background and my genuine obsession with making food that people actually want to eat.

This blog is for you if:

  • You care about what goes into your body but refuse to eat flavorless “health food”
  • You want to understand why an ingredient is good for you, not just that it is
  • You’re looking for recipes that work on a Tuesday night, not just a lazy Sunday
  • You want guidance from someone who has studied nutrition professionally and cooks every single day

MY PHILOSOPHY

I don’t believe in food fear. I don’t believe in elimination for the sake of it. What I do believe in is building a plate that nourishes your body and genuinely excites you.

As a nutritionist, I’ve seen firsthand how unsustainable restrictive eating is. The healthiest people I know aren’t counting every calorie — they’ve simply learned to cook food that makes them feel good. My job on this blog is to make that easier for you, one recipe at a time.

Every article I write combines two things: the nutritional knowledge I’ve spent years building, and the practical cooking experience of someone who makes these meals in a real home kitchen. Not a test lab. Not a professional studio. A regular kitchen, with regular tools, and ingredients you can find at your local grocery store.

WHY I STARTED THIS BLOG

After years of working with clients one-on-one, I kept running into the same problem: the advice I was giving in my office couldn’t reach the people who needed it most but didn’t have access to a nutritionist.

I started Simply Nourished Life in 2019 as a way to close that gap. What began as a small collection of client-approved recipes has grown into a library of hundreds of tested dishes, covering everything from high-protein breakfasts to satisfying plant-based dinners.

Every article I write is my attempt to give you what I give my clients — honest, practical, science-backed guidance — without the office visit.

A NOTE ON HOW I WRITE

You’ll notice that I always write in first person, because every word on this site comes from me, Thomas. There’s no writing team, no ghostwriter. When I say “I tested this recipe three times before getting it right,” I mean exactly that.

I also always explain why a recipe is healthy — not just list the ingredients and call it a day. You deserve to understand what you’re eating and how it supports your body. That’s a promise I make in every single post.

LET’S STAY IN TOUCH

If you try a recipe and love it (or want to tweak it), I genuinely want to hear from you. Drop a comment on any post — I read and respond to every one.
