- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- 1 clove garlic, finely minced
- ¼ teaspoon kosher salt

- 6 to 8 cups baby arugula
- 1 to 2 Asian pears, cut into matchsticks
- ⅓ cup toasted sliced or slivered almonds
- ½ cup shaved Asiago or Manchego cheese (about 1.5 ounces)
- 1 avocado, sliced or diced
- 5 leaves fresh basil, julienned
Make the dressing: Combine olive oil, white balsamic vinegar, maple syrup, Dijon mustard, garlic, salt, and freshly ground black pepper in a small bowl or mason jar. Shake well or whisk until the mixture is smooth and emulsified.

Dress and season: Drizzle the salad with the remaining dressing or serve the extra dressing on the side. Finish with a sprinkle of kosher salt and freshly cracked pepper to taste.
Serve immediately: This salad is best enjoyed fresh to preserve its crispness and vibrant flavors.
