Equipment

  • Blender
  • Fine mesh sieve
  • Large pitcher
  • Spatula
  • Citrus juicer

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups fresh squeezed lemon juice (7 to 8 large lemons)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 8 ounces fresh strawberries stems removed
  • 6 cups water divided
  • Ice and fresh mint for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  • Juice the lemons: Squeeze the fresh lemons, ensuring there are no seeds in the juice.
  • Blend the strawberries: Add the strawberries, sugar, and 2 cups of warm water to a blender. Blend until the mixture is smooth and no chunks remain.
  • Strain the strawberry mixture: Pour the blended mixture through a fine mesh sieve into a large pitcher, using a spatula to press the liquid through. Discard the seeds and pulp.
  • Add lemon juice and water: Stir in the freshly squeezed lemon juice and 4 cups of cold water. Adjust water quantity if you plan to serve over ice at a party (use 3 cups cold water instead).
  • Serve: Add ice to the pitcher and pour into glasses. Garnish with fresh mint sprigs and whole strawberries, if desired.

Notes

You can customize this lemonade by using monk fruit or stevia as a sweetener, adding chia seeds for nutrition, or replacing water with club soda for a sparkling version.
