- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground chipotle pepper
- 10 corn tortillas (6 inches)
- Canola or corn oil for frying
In a small bowl, mix the salt and ground chipotle pepper. This will be your seasoning blend.
Cut each corn tortilla into 4 equally-sized wedges to create the chip shape.
Heat 1 inch of oil in an electric skillet to a precise 350°F. This ensures the chips fry evenly without becoming too oily.
Fry 6-8 tortilla wedges at a time, letting them cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy.
Carefully transfer the fried chips to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
Once drained, place the chips in a large bowl and sprinkle the prepared salt mixture evenly over them. Toss gently to coat.
