Ingredients

  • 1 lb peeled and deveined shrimp
  • 1 Tablespoon olive oil or butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 Tablespoons low sodium soy sauce or tamari
  • 1 Tablespoon arrowroot powder or cornstarch
  • 1 Tablespoon fresh ginger, chopped
  • 1/2 Tablespoon sesame oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes optional
  • Green onions for topping
  • Sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

  • Pat shrimp completely dry with paper towels. Toss with salt, pepper, and garlic powder until evenly coated.
  • Whisk together honey, soy sauce, arrowroot powder, fresh ginger, sesame oil, and minced garlic in a small bowl. Set aside.
  • Heat olive oil or butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add shrimp in a single layer and cook for 2-3 minutes on one side until pink and just starting to curl. Flip and cook for another 1-2 minutes until fully opaque. Remove from skillet and set aside.
  • Lower the heat to medium-low and pour the sauce mixture into the same skillet. Stir continuously for 3-4 minutes until the sauce begins to reduce and thicken to a glossy consistency.
  • Return the shrimp to the skillet and coat them thoroughly in the sauce. Serve immediately over cooked rice, quinoa, or veggies. Sprinkle with green onions and sesame seeds for garnish.
