Cuisine American
- 1 loaf (1 pound) French bread
- 1 cup prepared pesto
- 1 pound thinly sliced deli turkey
- 1/2 pound provolone cheese, thinly sliced
- 2 small zucchini, thinly sliced
- 2 medium tomatoes, thinly sliced
- 1 medium red onion, thinly sliced
Preheat your oven to 350°F.
Cut the top fourth off the loaf of French bread and hollow out the bottom, leaving a 1/2-inch shell. Save the removed bread for another use or discard.
Spread the pesto generously on the inside of both the top and bottom of the bread.
In the hollowed-out loaf, layer the sliced turkey, provolone cheese, zucchini, tomatoes, and red onion. Press the layers together to ensure the sandwich stays compact.
Place the top of the bread back on and wrap the entire loaf tightly in foil.
Transfer the wrapped sandwich to a baking sheet and bake for 25-30 minutes, until heated through.
Let the sandwich rest for 10 minutes before slicing it into portions to serve.
